SEO Agency Malaysia — Rank on Google, Get Named by AI
By JY Wong, Founder · BixTech · Updated August 2026
What you should know before you spend anything
- You cannot pay to be recommended by ChatGPT. There is no submission form and no ad slot. It is earned the same way ranking is — which means the work you do for Google is the work that gets you named.
- The cheapest win is being readable. One indexed page with a complete answer sitting under the exact question your buyer asks does more than a year of blog posts.
- If you serve customers locally, fix your Google Business Profile before your website. Category, hours, and a steady flow of recent reviews decide the map pack — and feed the AI answer too.
- Zero clicks at a good ranking can be a win. Rising impressions with flat clicks usually means you are being named inside the AI answer. Measure citations, or you will "fix" something that is working.
- You can check this yourself today. Ask ChatGPT and Google the ten questions your buyers ask, and write down whether you are named and whether what it says is correct. That list is your whole starting brief.
What we do for you
Two outcomes. Everything else is method.
Get you listed on the first page of Google
The organic result, the local map pack, and the questions your buyers actually type. Position first, clicks second, enquiries third.
Get you recommended by the AI assistants
When a buyer asks an assistant for a shortlist, you are on it — and what it says about you is correct.
How we do it
One technique does most of the work. Three others make it stick.
Programmatic SEO — quality content at scale, built with AI
Most agencies publish four articles a month. We build a content engine: your real data plus a proven page template, with AI drafting at volume and our editors approving every page before it ships. Hundreds of genuinely useful pages, each one answering a real question a real buyer asks.
- Your data, not fillerLocations, services, industries, products, prices — the facts only you hold.
- AI drafts, humans approveVolume from the model, judgement from us. Nothing publishes unreviewed.
- Built to be quotedEvery page carries a direct answer block an assistant can lift cleanly.
Industries we work with
Every industry has its own version of the same problem: the facts a customer filters on are locked in a photo, a PDF or a poster. Each guide below names the ones that matter for that business, and what to fix first.

How do I get ChatGPT to recommend my business?
You have to be a source it can retrieve and trust when someone asks. There is no submission form and no paid placement. Five things decide it:
- 1. Be crawlable and indexedA page a search system cannot fetch cannot be quoted. Most failures start here.
- 2. Answer in one extractable blockA complete answer under a heading that matches the question.
- 3. Be a consistent entityClaimed Google Business Profile, same name, address and phone everywhere.
- 4. Earn third-party mentionsCredible sites describing you. Bought mentions are filtered out.
- 5. Measure itProbe the assistants on a schedule. Otherwise you are guessing.
- What does not workAn
llms.txtfile, "AI-optimised" keyword stuffing, or purchased mentions.
We run this on our own site first
- 80+ questionsA fixed panel of the queries we target, not a sample that flatters us.
- Every fortnightProbed against Google AI Overview and ChatGPT, with every response archived.
- Including the bad weeksOne fortnight our own citations fell from 5 to 1. It is in our records.
- Including our own bugsWe found our probe scoring unread results as "not cited", and fixed it.

Frequently asked questions
It makes your business findable when a customer is looking for what you sell — on Google, in the local map pack, and now inside AI answers. The work splits into four parts: technical health so the site can be crawled and indexed, content that answers the real question, local and entity signals such as your Google Business Profile and consistent business details, and authority from other credible sites referring to you. What changed in 2026 is the destination: a buyer may get a shortlist of three vendors from an AI Overview or ChatGPT and never open a website. If you are not on that shortlist you are not in the running, and your position-3 ranking will not tell you so.
Be retrievable and trusted at the moment of the question. In practice: make sure your pages are crawlable and indexed; put a complete, self-contained answer directly under a heading matching the question a customer would ask; keep your business entity consistent everywhere (claimed Google Business Profile, identical name, address and phone number, credible directory listings); earn genuine third-party mentions; and then measure it by asking the assistants your buyers' questions on a schedule and recording whether you are named. There is no submission form and no paid placement for ChatGPT recommendations.
Programmatic SEO builds many pages from one template and a structured dataset — locations, services, industries, products, specifications. It is safe and highly effective when you genuinely hold that data and each page is useful on its own, which is why we use AI to draft at volume and human editors to approve before anything publishes. It becomes a problem, and can trigger Google's scaled-content-abuse policy, when pages are near-identical spins of the same keyword with nothing new in them. The difference is whether the page has real information behind it. Our first job is telling you which case you are in — some businesses have the data for hundreds of strong pages, and some are better served by ten.
Mostly not. Google states that its generative features are grounded in core Search ranking systems, so a tactic that does not help ordinary ranking almost certainly does not help AI Overviews either. The genuine differences are narrow: structure answers so a model can extract them cleanly, strengthen entity signals, and measure citation rather than only position and clicks. Treat anyone selling "GEO" as a separate discipline with separate tricks with suspicion.
It is normally sold as a one-off audit plus an ongoing monthly engagement. Four things move the price: the technical state of your site, how contested your category is, how much is actually produced each month rather than advised, and whether AI-visibility monitoring is included, since those probes are metered and paid per query. We quote after the audit rather than before it. Be wary of any agency guaranteeing a specific position by a specific date — that is not something an agency controls.
Technical fixes and indexation problems can show results in weeks. Ranking in a contested Malaysian category is realistically a 6 to 12 month effort, because the businesses above you have review counts and link profiles built over years. Local map-pack improvements often move fastest, since a neglected Google Business Profile and a thin review count are usually the easiest gap to close. If you need results sooner, paid search is the honest answer and we will say so.
That pattern usually means AI Overview absorption: your page still ranks, but Google answers the question in the AI box and the user never clicks. Rising impressions with flat or falling clicks is the signature. The fix is not a new title tag — it is earning the citation inside the answer, and changing what you measure so a zero-click win is not filed as a failure. This is the single most common misdiagnosis we see on Malaysian sites right now.
For most Malaysian service businesses the highest-value result is the local map pack — the three businesses with a map, a star rating and a phone number sitting above the ordinary results. No web page can enter that block; only a Google Business Profile can. So local SEO is mostly four unglamorous jobs: claim and verify the profile, set the category and service area correctly, keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere, and build a steady flow of reviews. Reviews are the part with no substitute. The same entity signals also feed the AI answer.
Not for Google. Google has stated it does not give special treatment to llms.txt, "AI.txt" or similar files, so publishing one will not improve your AI Overview visibility. Some other AI crawlers read such files, so there is no harm in shipping one, but treat it as housekeeping rather than a ranking tactic.
Yes, and it is the reason to hire an automation company for search work. We connect the traffic to a WhatsApp AI assistant that answers first questions, qualifies the enquiry and books the call while the person is still interested. Traffic that arrives and leaves is not a lead, and for most Malaysian SMEs the gap between visit and conversation costs more than the gap between position 5 and position 3.
Yes. Our office is in Kuala Lumpur and we work across the Klang Valley (KL, Petaling Jaya, Subang, Puchong, Klang) plus Penang, Johor Bahru and the rest of Malaysia, as well as Singapore. Local SEO work is location-specific by nature, but it is done on your Google Business Profile and your site, so it does not require us to be on your doorstep.
