Nobody searches for an accountant while their books are tidy. They search because a bank wants accounts, a bookkeeper walked, or a year of statements never got reconciled. Here is how to be the firm that answers that search.
SEO for Accounting Firms in Malaysia
By JY Wong, Founder · BixTech · Updated August 2026
What we do for you
Two outcomes. Everything else is method.
Get you listed on the first page of Google
The searches an owner runs when the books are behind — a year of unreconciled statements, a bank asking for accounts, a first audit, a bookkeeper who left — plus the map pack for your own firm name.
Get you recommended by the AI assistants
When an owner asks an assistant what to do about two years of unfiled books, your firm is one of the answers rather than a generic list of software.
How we price
You only pay when it works
We build it, publish it and run it first. You pay on what it actually produces — measured in your own Google and analytics accounts.
- No results, nothing to pay forIf the work produces nothing, there is nothing to bill you for.
- You can check every number yourselfIt all comes from your own Google Search Console and Analytics, in your name. Nothing rests on a report we write.
- Cheaper than one ad clickOne visitor to your new pages costs you less than a single Google Ads click in your industry.
How we do it
One technique does most of the work here. The rest makes it hold.
Programmatic SEO — a page for every state the books can be in
Your firm is already a dataset: business size, entity type, industry, accounting system, and how far behind the records are. Cross them and you get hundreds of distinct situations, each with a real answer. We draft them at volume, and a member of your firm approves every one before it ships.
- Every state of the books as its own pageA year behind, two years behind, no system at all, mid-migration, a bookkeeper who left without a handover. One page, one state, plainly answered.
- Drafted at volume, approved by your own peopleThe model gives you coverage; a member of your firm gives you accuracy and takes responsibility for it. Nothing publishes without the second.
- One page, both wordsAccounting and bookkeeping are the same search in this market. They live on one page with both phrasings used naturally, never on two pages competing with each other.

How does a Malaysian accounting firm get found by the owners who need it?
By answering the state the books are in, not by listing accounting as a service. Six things decide it:
- 1. Answer the state of the booksA year behind, no system, a bookkeeper gone. That is what gets typed. "Accounting services" is what gets scrolled past.
- 2. Use both words on one pageAccounting and bookkeeping are one intent here. Two pages would compete with each other and Google would pick neither.
- 3. Publish fee ranges as textBy transaction volume, with a minimum. A contact form cannot be quoted by an assistant and loses the enquiry to whoever published a number.
- 4. Own the catch-up enquiryThe owner two years behind is the most motivated buyer in this market and the least served. Say plainly that you take that work.
- 5. Name the systemSQL Account, AutoCount, Xero, QuickBooks. The system name is how owners search once they have one.
- 6. Treat search as the whole job hereNeither head term currently shows an AI answer box. Assistants naming you is upside; the ranking and the map pack are the work.
How to check whether AI already recommends you
- Write down 10 customer questionsThe real ones, with the filters in — business size, entity type, industry, accounting system.
- Ask ChatGPT and GoogleRecord whether you are named, and whether what it says about you is correct.
- Repeat on a scheduleOne lucky afternoon is not a trend.
- We run this on ourselves80+ questions, every fortnight, archived — including the fortnight our own citations fell from 5 to 1.
The fix list, in the order worth doing it
-
01
Claim the map pack
Correct category, real hours, office photos, services filled in, and an enquiry link a person actually answers.
-
02
Put numbers on the page
A monthly range by transaction volume, a year-end range, and a catch-up range. This is where nearly every competitor stays silent.
-
03
Write the catch-up page
For the owner a year or two behind. Say what you need from them, what it costs, and how long it takes.
-
04
Add one system page at a time
Start with whichever of SQL Account, AutoCount, Xero or QuickBooks you already do most work in.
We describe the shape of this work rather than quoting a client's numbers, because published results would need that client's permission. On the call we show you our own measurement instead, which is the part you can verify.
The AI side for an accounting firm
Getting found is half of it. Here is what we automate once the enquiry arrives — the same team builds both.
- AI chatbot for finance and accountingDocument chasing, filing-status questions, fee quotes and client onboarding, answered without a manager reading every message in the week before a deadline.
- WhatsApp AI chatbotAnswers, qualifies and books on the channel your customers already use.
- AI use cases for an accounting firmThe full list of what an accounting firm can automate, with worked examples.
- Business automation & AIEverything else we build — quotations, follow-ups, internal knowledge, reporting.
Frequently asked questions
No, and this is the most common mistake in this market. The two phrasings are the same intent from the same buyer, and the results Google shows for them are effectively the same set. Split them and your own two pages compete for one position, which usually ends with neither ranking well. Put both words on one page, used naturally in the places an owner would use them, and let the page cover the whole range from monthly bookkeeping through to year-end. Depth on one page beats duplication across two.
On the firm-level terms, usually not, and chasing them is a poor use of money. On the specific questions, yes, and comfortably. A large firm publishes material aimed at large clients, so the question an owner of a nine-person company actually types is almost always unanswered. The difficulty reflects it: bookkeeping sits noticeably lower than the broader accounting terms, which is the market telling you where the opening is.
Yes, as ranges tied to something the owner can recognise, usually monthly transaction volume, with a stated minimum. Cost is one of the most searched things in this market and almost every Malaysian firm answers it with a contact form. That loses the enquiry twice: the owner leaves, and an assistant has nothing to repeat. A published range also filters out the enquiries below your minimum before either side spends a call on them.
It takes the data entry, which was never the valuable part. What it does not take is the owner who has a year of unreconciled statements and a subscription they stopped using in March. That is the searcher worth having, and software vendors answer that search with a product page rather than a plan. Naming the systems you work in is also how those owners find you now, because once a business has a system, the system name is what they search alongside the problem.
Publish the shape of the problem and keep the judgement. An owner can read what a catch-up involves, what you need from them, and what it roughly costs, and still have no interest in doing it themselves — that is exactly why they searched. What you should not publish is anything that reads as advice on what a business is required to do, or any threshold or deadline you have not verified. Describe the situation, name the person at your firm who holds the relevant membership, and hand every specific judgement to them.
A corrected Google Business Profile and a published fee page can register within weeks, because you are supplying information that is simply missing rather than fighting for a contested position. The situation and system pages build over a quarter or two. Being named by an assistant is not something we would promise here at all: neither head term currently shows an answer box, so that is upside we measure rather than a result we sell.
